romney did well in the debate. i will admit that, i give him a b-plus on style, but i give him a d-minus on substance and truthfulness. >> you know, why -- >> he did not tell the truth. >> president obama didn't challenge him on the stage, which i think probably is what a lot of democrats think the problem was. let me ask you about ohio's job. as you know, both of you know, ohio's unemployment rate is lower than the national average. it was 5.4%, governor, when you took office. it hit its high point in 2010. ten points now it's down. by 7.2%. now, i want to just play you what governor kasik, a republican, said at the rnc. >> we've made real progress in ohio in restoring confidence because that's what so much of life is about. we are setting people free in order to build success, but we need a new partner in washington. this relationship is just not working. it is holding us back. >> so governor, first to you. who is responsible for the good economy, or relatively good economy in ohio? >> thank you for playing that

governor romney at the beginning of this debate broke and said, what we did in massachusetts could be a model for the nation. i agree that the democratic legislators in massachusetts might be giving advice to republicans in congress about how to cooperate. but the fact of the matter is, we used the same advisers and they say it's the same plan. when governor romney talks about this board, for example, unelected board that we have created, what this is is a group of health care expert, doctors, et cetera, to figure out how can we reduce the cost of care in the system overall? because there are two ways of dealing with our health care crisis. one is to simply leave a whole bunch of people uninsured and let them fend for themselves, to let businesses figure out how long they can continue to pay premiums until they finally give up and the workers are no longer getting insured. and that's been the trend line. or, alternatively, we can figure out how to make the cost of care more effective. there are ways of doing t. cleveland clinic, one of the best health care systems in the world, they a

here's what obama said, here's what romney said at the debate. let's take a listen and talk about it on the other side. >> i'm not looking for a $5 trillion tax cut. what i've said is i won't put in place a tax cut that adds to the deficit. >> governor romney's central economic plan calls for a $5 trillion tax cut. for 18 months, he's been running on this tax plan. now, five weeks before the election, he's saying his big, bold idea is never mind. >> all right. what what's the deal here? >> this is a complicated one. we have from the romney campaign a plan that has been analyzed by an independent group that said it would lead to around $450 billion a year in revenue that's cut from the -- revenue that's not there as a result of these taxes. the obama campaign has then taken this and extrapolated it over ten years, and they have arrived at $5 trillion. well, ten years times $450 billion doesn't get us to $5 trillion. so that's not quite right. but what is true is that the romney campaign, governor romney himself, has not explained what they're goin

romney because this was a terrific debate. i want to thank the university of denver. four years ago we were going through a major crisis. yet, my faith in the american future is undiminished. the reason is because of its people. because of a woman i met in north carolina who decided at 55 to go back to school because she wanted to inspire her daughter and now she has a new job. because of a company in minnesota willing to give up salaries and perks for the executives to make sure they did not lay off workers during a recession. the auto workers that you need in toledo or detroit take such pride in building the best cars in the world not just because of a paycheck, but because it gives them a sense of pride that they are helping to build america. the question now is how do we build on the strengths? everything i have tried to do everything i am proposing for the next four years as far as improving education or developing american energy or making sure we are closing loopholes for companies shipping jobs overseas and focusing on small businesses create jobs in the unite
